Washington Post columnist slammed for reporting on Harris shopping list: ‘You should be embarrassed’

A Washington Post columnist is taking heat online after posting Vice President Kamala Harris’ shopping list.

Reporter James Hohmann posted Harris’ X purchases after she visited a spice shop known for openly supporting Democrats in Pittsburgh ahead of her debate with former President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

“Kamala Harris just went to Penzeys Spices and bought Cream Peppercorn Sauce Base, Fox Point Seasoning, Trinidad Lemon-Garlic Marinade, Turkish Seasoning, and Tuscan Sunset Salt Free Italian Seasoning,” Hohmann posted Saturday.

Social media users slammed the tweet and accused the Post Office worker of being a “salesman”.

“Honest question. How do you look at yourself in the mirror and not feel ashamed?” one user posted.

“Are you also tracking bowel movements? This is shameful and you should be ashamed,” another user posted.

Others mocked his tweet and claimed it was a “parody” of real journalism.

“This is Pulitzer quality material. Congratulations,” one user wrote.

Hohmann did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The barbeque sauce and condiment store has earned a reputation as a politically outspoken retailer, with an entire “About Republicans” disclaimer on its website.

“Going forward, we’d still be happy to have you as customers, but we’re done pretending that embracing cruelty, racism, Covid lies, climate change denial and threats to democracy are anything but the dangers they are.” are legitimate. ,” founder Bill Penzey wrote on the website.

“If you need us to pretend you’re not creating the injury you’re creating in order to continue being our customer, I’m sorry to say you may be happier elsewhere.”

The retailer boasts 65 storefronts and an online store, making it the largest independent spice company in the country.

Its founder went viral shortly after Donald Trump was elected president, when Penzey called Trump a racist in an email newsletter sent to several thousand customers.

“The Republican Party’s open embrace of racism in this election is now unleashing a wave of ugliness not seen in this country in decades,” he wrote.

In a follow-up email, he told Trump supporters they “just voted for an openly racist candidate for the presidency of the United States of America.”

Fox News anchors criticized Harris’ choice of a station on spice shops.

“Vice President Harris is diving into Pittsburgh as she pushes for unity while visiting a spice shop known for mocking Republicans,” anchor Will Cain said Sunday.

“They picked the coziest, coziest place she could go, where all the owners and staff are 100 percent Trump-hating bookies,” co-host Pete Hegseth said.
